In recent years, with the deep research of nano-drug carriers, the environmental responsive inorganic-organic composite nanoparticles have been widely applied in drug delivery systems. These intelligent nano-drug carriers possessed unique advantages.

New developments in technology for clean, renewable energy and protecting the environment are an important subject to aim at the sustainable earth, as a problem to rank with robotics, AI technology and biotechnology. For a proposal of special issues for MPC, I suggest the research topics of electric power generation, energy storage and its generation-storage system which use solar cells, thermo-electric devices, secondary (rechargeable) batteries, fuel cells, electric double layer capacitors and so forth.

Nanomaterials for detection, monitoring and remediation of environmental pollutants: Due to unique features of nanomaterials, such as size, surface area, adsorptivity, photoelectronic, and photocatalytic properties, they have emerged to be important materials in the analytical detection and remediation of environmental pollutants. Environmental detection and remediation have been substantially benefiting from progress in nanomaterials and nanotechnologies in the past decades. The aim of this special issue is to provide environmental research community with a forum to share innovative ideas and to present an up-to-date account of advancement in these areas.
